The Hard Maple tree, the source of maple syrup and maple sugar. It's extremly hard wood is used in furniture, flooring, doors, trim, cabinets, billiard cues, rolling pins and more. It has a fine grain and is stronger than oak. It stains well. It treated it can be used for decking and outdoor furniture. Grows in rich moist soils. Birds and mammels are drawn to it's sap, which they obtain through a break in a twig, branch or bark.
