Produces edible acorns each fall, with large crops produced every four to ten years. As with all other acorns, these shuld be boiled in several changes of water to leech out the bitter and slightly toxic tannins before eating. Acorns are an important food source for turkeys, squirrels, grouse, deer and other wildlife. Leaves have rounded lobes.
