The wood of the Red Oak is reddish-brown, leaves pointed with acorns that mature in two seasons. The acorns of the Red Oak tree has a higher content of tannins compared to the nuts of the White Oak, which the deer prefere, however, is still an important food source as the Red Oak acorn have a higher fat content then that of the White Oak.
Red Oak is a very important wood used in the lumber and furniture grade industry, Oak is the wood most commonly used for finer, more durable furniture. It’s a very hard, heavy, open-grained wood that grows in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Red oak (also known as black oak) has a pinkish cast and is the more popular of the two oaks (White oak has a slightly greenish cast). Prominent rings and large pores give oak a coarse texture and prominent grain. It stains well in any color. It is used for furniture, trim, flooring, cabinets, panneling and much more.
